Center for Legal Resources

The Center for Legal Resources launched on the 9th March during a press conference in Bucharest, the study “Diagnosis analysis of the opportunities and gender equality field in Romania: problems, needs and European solutions” . The research was carried out by the antidiscrimination  experts of the National Council for Fighting Discrimination, Center for Legal Resources and Giacomo Brodolini Foundation in Italy, in the project “Multi regional network of advisory services on antidiscrimination issues aiming the social inclusion of the discriminated persons”, co financed  by  Social European Fund, through Operational Sectorial Program – the Human Resources Development (POS DRU) 2007-2013, Priority Axis 6 “Promoting social inclusion” , Main area of intervention 6.3 – Promoting opportunities’ equality on the labor market.

According to the analysis results, the local and central authorities in the field need better coordination and must bring the non discrimination principle in their activities related to social assistance and inclusion.
They could achieve it through a specific training for their stuff and for other relevant actors at the local level in the field of opportunities and gender equality: unions, employers, NGOs and media.
The study includes a presentation of the Romanian legal and institutional framework on the protection of the rights of the vulnerable groups, the results of a sociological analysis on the way the principle of equal opportunities and gender was implemented at the local level, as well as the efficiency of its application. The research also comprises an analysis of the Italian legal and institutional framework, of the best practices’ examples in Italy and other European countries. It ends with recommendations on improving the situation in Romania from the point of view of opportunities and gender equality.
