Justice for victims with intellectual and\/or psychosocial disabilities<\/h1>\n
The project \u201cJustice for victims with intellectual and\/or psychosocial disabilities\u201d is intended as a follow-up to the CRJ initiatives \u201cAdaptJust \u2013 accessible justice for people with disabilities\u201d and \u201cFree to decide\u201d which identified increased needs for comprehensive assistance to over 200 people with intellectual and psychosocial disabilities, victims of human trafficking offenses in the files of DIICOT Central Structure and DIICOT Territorial Structure Mures. CLR visited multiple social care homes between 2022-2023 and referred the cases to the prosecutor\u2019s offices, also collaborating with investigative journalists.<\/p>\n
FIND OUT MORE<\/a><\/p>\n The Romanian state has been condemned by the judges of the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg on several occasions for violations of the fundamental rights of vulnerable groups and in particular of persons with mental disabilities. An important aspect noted was the lack of procedures and tools at the level of police detectives and mental health professionals. The only manual for training police detectives dated from 2005 and there are no references no interventions when a person with mental disabilities is involved.
