CLR: Meeting with the Prime Minister, Labour Minister and other NGOs

Georgiana Pascu, program manager of Advocate for Dignity by CLR, participated yesterday in the consultative meeting with the Prime Minister of Romania, Mr. Marcel Ciolacu, and the Minister of Labour, Ms. Simona Bucura-Oprescu, along with several NGOs, at the Romanian Government.

The points discussed, submitted to the Government also in written form by the CLR, concerned the importance of unannounced monitoring visits carried out through non-governmental human rights organisations (watchdog), the urgency of signing a protocol between the CLR and the Ministry of Labour and Social Solidarity, Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Interior Affairs, the urgency of drawing up a clear National Action Plan for the prevention of cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment, as well as other short-term measures concerning victims in private and public institutions for the care of persons with intellectual and/or psychosocial disabilities, persons with neurological conditions and the elderly.
