European Employee – Equal Employee !

In order to promote the principle of non-discrimination and equal chances, the Centre for Legal Resources has developed the “European Employee  = Equal Employee !” project, which was focused mainly on the equal chances at work and was addressed to employers – private companies and public institutions – as well as employees, especially those with responsibilities in the adoption and application of discriminatory measures.

Results:

– 15,000 brochures on combating discrimination, and 500 Guides employer with essential information in the field of non-discrimination and equal opportunities in employment relationships were distributed. Topics referred to what discrimination is and which are its forms of manifestation at work, how to prevent, defend and resolve cases of discrimination at work, case studies of the National Council for Combating Discrimination and the National Agency for Equal Opportunities, the situation among employers in the European Union, good practice in EU Member States;

– a special section on antidiscrimination within  www.antidiscriminare.ro website has been developed;

– a qualitative social research has been carried out and was released as a report on the perception of discrimination at work and the role of employees’ and employers’ representatives in implementing non-discriminatory measures and pro-equality of chances.

– 8 meetings with regional representatives of private companies and public institutions, were held which debated the principle of equality of chances to work and models of good practice in other European countries.

– a pilot training on the issues faced by employers and unions regarding the implemention of the acquis communautaire in the field of non-discrimination and equal opportunities in employment was organized.

– specialised consulting and assistance service for supporting employers and unions in implementating the acquis communautaire in the field of non-discrimination and equal opportunities in employment was operational during the project.
